Dr. Boppana was raised in rural India with lots of farm animals. His compassionate nature and eager enthusiasm for treating animals developed at a very young age. With lots of encouragement from his parents, he pursued a career in veterinary science. He received his education in both India and the United States.
Dr. Boppana received his training to become a veterinarian in India in 1994. He earned a Master of Veterinary Science degree and Doctor of Philosophy. Dr. Boppana completed his Post-Doctoral fellowship at University of Connecticut Health Center before joining UTMB Galveston as a research scientist at the Center for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Disease, Department of Pathology, Galveston National Laboratories. He received several prestigious awards and fellowships like Young scientist award, NIH fellowship. Dr. Boppana is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), American Association of Veterinary Parasitology (AAVP), Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) and other professional organizations. Dr. Boppana is a general practitioner with professional interests in surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, dermatology, infectious diseases and immunology.
