While growing up, Dr. Sophie Demathieu moved to many places, including France for eight years, before her family settled down in the Bay Area. She received her bachelor's degree in integrative biology from UC Berkeley, followed by her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis.

Since graduating, Dr. Demathieu has worked with both large animals, and small animals, most recently here in East Contra Costa County. Dr. Demathieu joins VCA Antioch Animal Hospital - Deer Valley as a general practitioner where she looks forward to building relationships with clients through caring for their pets. Her special interests include hospice and wound care.

Dr. Demathieu lives in Concord with her husband, their daughter, and pets: golden retriever, Darcy, and tuxedo kitties, Busta-Rhymes and Figaro. During her time off and away from the hospital, Dr. Demathieu enjoys reading novels, dancing, and traveling.
