Dr. Kat was born in Medellín, Colombia and moved to Houston, Texas as a teenager. She's called Houston home ever since—except for the four years she spent in Arizona earning her veterinary degree at Midwestern University.
Before veterinary school, Dr. Kat earned her business degree from the University of Houston. Her passion for animals started when she was a little girl, and her love for science and medicine naturally led her to veterinary medicine—combining her two greatest passions. During vet school, she volunteered extensively with TNR (trap, neuter, return) programs, reflecting her dedication to community animal welfare.
Dr. Kat is married and has two cats, Ollie and Bubba, who keep her life lively. In her free time, she enjoys indoor rock climbing, hiking, and spending time outdoors.
