VCA Blum Animal Hospital

Our Story

At VCA Blum, we've been helping pets live long, healthy and happy lives since 1952.

Bad breath in Wrigleyville? Behavior problems in Lakeview? Need vaccines in Lincoln Park? Our Chicago animal hospital has your pet’s veterinary care needs covered. You’ll love our convenient location (on Clark, just north of Belmont in Lakeview), our FREE parking, and our variety of veterinary medical services (wellness care, dentistry, surgery, internal medicine, and diagnostics, to name a few).

Chicago’s pets will love visiting our team of passionate and friendly veterinary professionals, committed to making the veterinary experience a positive one. It’s a difference you can feel the moment you walk through our doors.

Hometown Care at VCA Blum Animal Hospital

The VCA Blum Animal Hospital difference starts with you…the Chicago pet owner. You and your pets are what make our team get out of bed every morning excited to come to work. You’ve heard the quote, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Well, the veterinary professionals at VCA Blum Animal Hospital consider it a privilege to take care of your pets. We love what we do, and you’ll feel that love with every encounter.

But we don’t run on enthusiasm and passion alone. The following facts are also evidence of the differences between VCA Blum Animal Hospital and other Lakeview, Wrigleyville, and Lincoln Park animal hospitals:

  • We’ve been caring for Chicago’s pets since 1952.
  • Since 1972, we’ve been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). What does that mean? Our animal hospital is regularly evaluated by an outside veterinary organization on approximately 900 standards to ensure we’re practicing the highest quality veterinary medicine. Only about 15% of animal hospitals throughout the U.S. and Canada are AAHA accredited.
  • As a Cat Friendly Practice, we go above and beyond to ensure your cat’s visits to our animal hospital are as comfortable as possible for both your cat and you.
  • Our practice is Fear Free certified, which means we use calming techniques to reduce anxiety and create positive experiences for all pets in our animal hospital.
  • We’re respected in our community and beyond: We’ve been chosen as best Chicago animal hospital and favorite veterinarian multiple times by various publications and organizations. VCA Blum Animal Hospital was also recognized by the Today Show during the Chicago canine influenza outbreak. Learn more here.

We’re proud of our achievements and the excellent veterinary care we provide, and we hope you’ll be proud to call VCA Blum Animal Hospital your Lakeview-area animal hospital of choice.

Accreditations & Affiliations
American Animal Hospital Association

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) sets the standard for quality veterinary care for companion animals. As an accredited hospital, we voluntarily uphold the Association's high standards in 18 different areas and are routinely evaluated on over 900 different standards of veterinary care. Not all animal hospitals are accredited, and we are proud to be amongst only 12-15% of veterinary hospitals that hold this honor.

As veterinary professionals, we know that the stress and anxiety associated with taking a pet to the veterinarian is a significant reason why pets don't always receive the medical attention they need. Fear Free℠ veterinary visits reduce feelings of stress, resulting in a better experience for all involved, including pets, owners, and veterinary health care teams. Having Fear Free℠ Certified Professionals can help alleviate your pet's fear, anxiety, and stress when visiting our hospital.
