Dr. Lisa Markham was born and raised in Syracuse, NY but her education led her to other destinations. She received her Bachelor's in Animal Science from Cornell University and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida. She is certified in the United States Department of Agriculture as well as Fear Free.

After graduating, she completed an intense thirteen-month internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston. She then started her career in small animal medicine and surgery in a ten-doctor mixed practice outside of Saratoga Springs. Approximately a year later, she took a job in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Eventually, she relocated to Syracuse to care for pets in her hometown. If asked what she enjoys most about this profession, "I love building relationships with the pets and their families". I start my day with a mantra to do a thorough exam and do the best job that I can for each pet and their family.

Her number one interest outside of work is her family which comprises her husband, Pete, son Clayton, and daughters Ella and Iris. Other passions are traveling, good food, and any form of exercise.

Sadly, they recently had to say goodbye to Josie, their 12-year-old lab mix. Consequently, their orange kitty, Monte, is getting showered with love!
