Located in New Port Richey and serving the surrounding communities, our veterinarians, technicians and pet-friendly support staff are trained to the highest standards. Their thorough knowledge of the latest procedures and medicines ensures that our patients receive the best in preventive and healing care.
At VCA Little Animal Hospital, our mission is simple, "your pet's health is our top priority, and excellent service is our goal." We look forward to welcoming you and your pet with a smile! Our professional and courteous staff, including bilingual Spanish-speakers, seeks to provide the best possible medical care, surgical care and dental care for our highly valued patients. We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative health care and health-related educational opportunities for our clients.
Because your pet’s health is our number one priority, our animal hospital is equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment. Our medical staff can perform onsite x-rays and run laboratory tests allowing for quick and accurate diagnosis for sick or injured pets. We know that your pet is a member of your family, "a companion." At VCA Little Animal Hospital, we strive to provide the highest quality veterinary medical treatment with a cheerful, caring and compassionate attitude. We will treat your pet as our own, and treat you the way you want to be treated.
We believe that pets should be treated in the same manner as human beings. At our hospital, pain relief is administered to all pets that are in discomfort. In addition, we perform pre-operative blood work on all surgical patients to make sure their organ system is healthy before going under anesthesia. Whether your pet is in our boarding facility, or our hospital, their comfort is of the utmost importance to us.
Local Medical Issues
There are numerous local medical issues that can impact your pet's health and that require your attention over the entire year. In our area, heartworm disease is prevalent and can affect both cats and dogs. Since this disease is transmitted by mosquitoes, which thrive in our region, it is a serious cause for concern. And, since the winter temperatures do not get cold enough here to kill mosquito eggs, it is a year-round risk. We also have year-round exposure to flea and tick infestation, which can cause intestinal parasites. Another cause for concern is heat stroke due to the high temperatures we experience. For more information on heat stroke, including symptoms and treatments, click here. And finally, contrary to what you'd expect, allergies are a year-round issue here as well. Many pets suffer from skin and ear allergies, the signs of which include scratching, redness in the ears and scaly skin.
We harness the scale and strength of our global network while acknowledging each individual's contribution. We work locally to improve the lives of all who interact with our brand.
