Jeymarie

Veterinary Assistant

When you trust someone with your pet’s care, you want to know they will bring both heart and focus to caring for someone you love. Jeymarie brings a genuine love of veterinary medicine to her role as a veterinary assistant at VCA Merrimac Animal Hospital in Williamsburg, VA, along with the calm, attentive approach she developed through emergency and critical care. Every pet is another reason to keep learning, growing, and giving her best to a profession that means so much to her.

That love for veterinary medicine is also what keeps Jeymarie learning. She is energized by a field that continues to evolve because every new skill or piece of knowledge gives her another way to support the pets in her care. She also enjoys sharing what she learns with clients, helping families better understand what their pet needs and feel more informed and involved in their care.

“I love that veterinary medicine never gives you the chance to stop being curious. There is always something more to understand and knowing that what I learn can help another pet makes me want to keep growing.”

Jeymarie’s path into veterinary medicine began in 2017 at an equine rehabilitation center, where she first fell in love with the field. That experience led her to work in shelters and veterinary hospitals before discovering her passion for emergency and critical care. Working in those demanding environments helped shape another important part of the way Jeymarie cares for patients: her ability to remain composed and attentive when circumstances become challenging.

For Jeymarie, staying calm allows her to stay focused on the pet who needs her. Her critical care experience taught her the importance of paying attention to details and thinking clearly even when circumstances become stressful. She is also certified in animal first aid and CPR, adding to the knowledge and preparation she brings to patient care. Together, those experiences help Jeymarie approach difficult moments with focus and purpose, keeping her attention where it belongs: on the needs of the pet in front of her.

“When a situation becomes difficult, I believe pets need us to be at our best. Staying calm helps me think clearly, pay attention to what matters, and give each patient the care and focus they deserve.”

For Jeymarie, loving veterinary medicine ultimately comes back to the pets and families she gets to help because of it. Every new skill, lesson, and experience gives her something more to bring to their care. At VCA Merrimac Animal Hospital in Williamsburg, that means continuing to grow not simply for herself, but so she can be better prepared for the next pet and family who place their trust in her.
