Genia  Bercovitz, DVM Intern

Dr. Genia Bercovitz joined VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists in July 2019 after completing a one year Small Animal Rotating Internship in Medicine and Surgery at Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Dr. Bercovitz received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Barnard College and her doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. While her activities at veterinary school were wide-ranging, varying from working at spay/neuter clinics to attaining certification in bovine artificial insemination (less feral cats, more homegrown cows was her mantra), she found her true passion during her internship: the eye. Dr. Bercovitz will be working exclusively in our Ophthalmology department and focusing on all things ocular.

When relaxing off the job, Dr. Bercovitz has set her sights on visiting Portland's neighborhoods, museums, and restaurants, as well as on looking out for rare finds at antique stores. She shares her home with Remi, her adoptee from an East Coast shelter. Remi occasionally gives Dr. Bercovitz the evil eye if she forgets to bring home her feline's favorite foods: ice cream and tuna (and yes, Remi's catnaps often include visions of Salt and Straw putting Seafood Sorbet on their menu.)
