Originally from Dallas, Texas, Dr. Joanie Dolance received her DVM from Texas A&M in 2004 after obtaining undergraduate degrees in biochemistry and history from the University of Oklahoma. She completed a rotating internship at the Animal Surgical and Emergency Center in West Los Angeles in 2005, after which she practiced emergency medicine for a year in Wisconsin before returning to southern California. She worked for sixteen years at a multispecialty veterinary hospital in West Los Angeles, where she served as the Director of the Emergency and Critical Care Department as well as the Internship Director from 2010-2021. Her particular interests include polytrauma, critical presentations of endocrine disease, critical post-op care, pain management, and teaching.
Dr. Dolance moved to the Portland area in 2021 with her husband, son, daughter, two cats, Noggin (who is pictured with her here) and Pandora, of Greek mythology, as well as one dog, Hefe. Since moving to Oregon, another cat, Poppy, was welcomed into the family.
While not practicing medicine, she enjoys baking, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and cross-stitch.
