After graduation in 2004 from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. McDonald completed a rotating internship at VCA Aurora and Berwyn Animal Hospitals in the Chicagoland area. She then was accepted into a medical oncology residency at VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center which she completed in 2008. She then practiced at VCA Berwyn Animal Hospital for 1 year as a medical oncologist and then began her Radiation Oncology Residency at VCA Aurora Animal Hospital in 2009. This was completed in 2011. She then moved to Portland, OR for the first time and worked as a medical oncologist at VCA Raleigh Hills Animal Hospital until 2013. In April, 2013 she took a position with Sage Centers for Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Care in the San Francisco Bay Area until December 2015 when she decided to return to Oregon and began her position here at VCA NWVS. Dr. McDonald became board certified in both medical and radiation oncology in 2013.
Dr. McDonald’s interests include all types of cancer diagnosis and treatment; palliative and hospice care.
Dr. McDonald lives in Happy Valley with her four dogs (Ruby a Pug, Ruby Too a Cavalier/Poodle mix, Cassidy a Maltipoo, and Ramona a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) as well as two cats (Killian an orange tabby, Colby an orange tabby, and Oskee Wow Wow a medium haired orange and white tabby). She enjoys all things outdoors including hiking, camping, rock climbing, and the coast.
