Tera is a registered vet technician supervisor for VCA Orange County Veterinary Specialists. From a young age her stepdad instilled in her a love for animals through traveling with her to Africa, Galapagos and the Amazon. Kissing a giraffe in Kenya and swimming with the penguins in the Galapagos where definite highlights from those adventures. Every spider, lizard, salamander, among many other species, provided an opportunity for her stepdad to teach her respect and compassion. She grew up surrounded by animals.
Tera graduated in 1998 from Oregon State University with a BS in Animal Science and minor in Agriculture Business Management, and she went on to get her AA degree in Animal Health Technology in Monterey, CA to sit for the Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) boards. During her RVT education she joined an emergency and referral hospital in Santa Cruz and realized that she liked the pace and knowledge of medicine. After 2 years she moved to Orange County and continued working in emergency and referral hospitals. She then furthered her career, obtaining a Masters in Counseling, emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. She counseled children for a while until having her two of her own.
In her time off, Tera loves to play with her two kids, travel with her husband, garden, and play tennis. She also volunteers for Bichon Furkids as she owned a Bichon named Bentley for 9 years who meant the world to her. Currently her family’s pets include a bearded dragon named Toothless and a snail named Aviva.
