In 2018, inspired by her newly adopted extremely spicy dachshund, Honey, Melissa began working at a general practice VCA in Chicago. She started as a receptionist at that hospital and was trained to be an assistant, and then technician–she is currently in school to attain her credential as a licensed veterinary technician. Melissa is passionate about animal rescue work, and has fostered with both cat and dog rescues (or whoever follows her home)–she is also has special interest in animal behavior and physical rehabilitation, and has completed several courses in trust and relationship building with dogs, as well as a weeklong introductory course at Canine Rehabilitation institute. Outside of work she loves hiking, playing piano, and cooking. She is a Michigan girl at heart and is excited to finally have moved back, and be a part of the team at VCA Oshtemo–to continue doing what she loves and to continue to learn and grow both professionally and personally!
