Dr. Hamby was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, where he attended the University of Missouri-Columbia for undergraduate and veterinary school, receiving his B.S. in Biology in 1996 and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2000. During his college years, he worked in the St. Louis Zoo and in small animal practices in Florida and Georgia.

After graduation, Dr. Hamby moved to North Carolina, where he worked full-time at a high volume surgical and medical clinic, and part-time at an emergency clinic. The emergency clinic quickly developed into his full-time job. After 3 years in North Carolina, he moved to the great city of Austin. He worked as a relief vet in the Austin area from 2003-2012, gaining more experience at several high-quality small animal practices and emergency clinics.

Dr. Hamby enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but especially enjoys surgery, dentistry, dermatology, and internal medicine.

When he is not at work, Dr. Hamby enjoys spending time with his wife Courtney, and their five boys. Other interests include traveling, throwing pottery and watching football.
