Team Spotlight
Dr. Kyla Garrels graduated from Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences in 2008. Dr. Garrels treats dogs and cats, but also treats rabbits, pocket pets, birds and reptiles. She enjoys dermatology, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Garrels is a native to Oklahoma City, but has called Apopka home since 2008.
Dr. Garrels shares her home with 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 rabbits, 1 iguana, and a 90lb tortoise. In her spare time, she is kept busy by her husband, Andrew, and 2 young daughters. She enjoys reading, spending time at the beach, and going to Disney with her girls.
Kristy has been a dedicated member of the VCA team since 2021. She graduated with her associate's degree in veterinary technology from St. Petersburg College in 2017.
She enjoys spending her free time with her husband and two dogs, Jagger and Riley. She enjoys visiting farmer markets, wineries, and state parks. Kristy has rescued many kitties over the years and currently has Stinky Pete, Drama, and Moscato. Kristy rescued Riley as an 8-week-old puppy in Clermont, Florida. Jagger is a release from Canine Companions, an organization that provides trained medical service dogs.
