Rene van Ee
Veterinary Specialist (Retired) DVM, DACVS

Board Certified in Surgery by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons

Dr. van Ee is a native of Detroit and attended Michigan State University where he majored in physiology. He graduated from the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine with honors and then completed a 1 year small animal surgery internship at Oradell Animal Hospital in New Jersey. His internship was followed by a small animal surgery residency at the University of Tennessee. Following his residency, Dr. van Ee was an assistant professor of small animal surgery at Louisiana State University. He has authored more than 30 scientific publications related to surgical topics.

Currently, he serves on the advisory board of the veterinary technician program at Medaille College and was President of the New York State Veterinary Medical Society in 2010. He is an adviser for Explorer Post 26 “Exploring Veterinary Science” program and is also a Reserve Deputy in the Erie County Sheriff's Office Scientific Division. Recent professional recognition includes the William H. Spurgeon III Award by the Greater Niagara Frontier Council, Veterinarian of Year (2012) by the New York State Veterinary Medical Society, and the ImproMed Community Contributor of the Year Award for 2013.

He and his wife Pamela, have been married 40 years and have 3 children.

Dr. van Ee’s practice is limited to consultations and surgery on a referral only basis.
