Dr. Hicks received her BS in biology from Texas A&M University. She then went on to obtain her DVM degree from St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2020, spending her clinical year at the University of Pennsylvania. Following graduation, Dr. Hicks completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. After her internship, Dr. Hicks went on to complete a medical oncology residency at Oregon State University before joining the VCA South Shore (Weymouth) Animal Hospital team as part of the Medical Oncology service in 2024.
Dr. Hicks is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in Oncology. Her clinical interests include the history of cancer biology, utilization of cancer genetic testing and its correlation with novel therapeutic treatment options, and palliative cancer care. Dr. Hicks' main goals as a medical oncologist are to educate people about their pet's cancer diagnosis, work alongside them to tailor a specific diagnostic and therapeutic treatment plan, and help them focus on their pet's quality of life.
