Dr. Lopes was born and raised on Cape Cod, MA. She attended the University of Massachusetts  Amherst where she earned her Bachelor of Science  in Animal Science. After graduating from UMASS, she worked as a veterinary technician in Boston and volunteered as a caretaker for the Alaskan Iditarod. Dr. Lopes then attended Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and received her doctor of veterinary medicine in 2002. After graduation, she completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at our hospital and has remained on staff as an emergency doctor ever since. Her special interests include trauma, endocrine emergencies and critical care.
