Hello! I'm Melissa Kight, the medical director here at VCA A Plus Animal Hospital in Reno, NV. I was born and raised here in the Reno/Sparks area. I attended undergrad at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where I received my BS in Veterinary Science in 2015. I then returned to Reno and worked two years at VCA Feline Medical Center as a veterinary assistant before attending vet school. I completed veterinary school at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN, where I graduated with a dual DVM/MBA in 2021. I've been in general practice at VCA A Plus Animal Hospital since graduating from vet school.
My main interests in practice are preventive care, surgery, dentistry, and fostering the human-animal bond.
Outside of the hospital, I enjoy cooking, hiking, traveling, and spending quality time with my husband, Bailey. Together, we have two cats, Pinto and Affogato, and a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, Indiana (named after Indiana Jones!).
