Dr. Byrnes was born in New York and grew up in Bradenton, Florida before attending Wheaton College in Norton Massachusetts where he received his bachelor's degree. After college, he played semi-professional soccer before deciding to apply to veterinary school. Dr Byrnes decided to follow in his family's footsteps and attend St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada. His mother and brother also attended SGU, however Dr. Byrnes is the first in his family to become a veterinarian. He completed his clinical year at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine before he graduated in 2024. He has a special interest in internal medicine, specifically endocrinology, gastroenterology, and nephrology. He loves having the ability to make a positive difference in the lives of both the people and pets that he works with.
He lives at home with his beloved Husky mix dog named Leia. He spends most of his free time taking Leia on long walks, going to the gym, and watching sports. He is a big fan of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Washington Capitals but loves to watch soccer, baseball, and rugby. He recently became a part of the VCA family as of July 2025.
