Dr. Kristen Shuster received her degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Upon receiving her degree, she returned to the United States and completed a rotating internship at VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists in Portland, Oregon. Following this, Dr. Shuster completed her residency in medical oncology at the University of Illinois in 2024 and became board-certified in the same year.
Dr. Shuster's special professional interests include the management of lymphoma, as, despite being the most common cancer in dogs and cats, it often presents in unique ways. Dr. Shuster is also very passionate about working with families to provide comfort care. She understands that the main goal for any family is maintaining the best quality of life for their beloved pet, regardless of whether that means pursuing cancer-directed care or comfort care alone.
When not working, you will often find her curled up with a book and her three cats, finding new places to explore with her dog, and trying to work on her linocutting skills, a type of art she started during veterinary school.
