Josie grew up on an acreage in small town Iowa and developed a passion for animals at an early age. In high school, she was employed as an intern and dog walker at her local veterinary clinic. While working in this position, Josie learned about and worked with both large and small animals under the guidance of Dr. Smith. After graduation, she went on to pursue a degree in animal science from Iowa State University. Josie went into large animal production at a swine processing facility where she spent a little over a year working as alley buyer overseeing live intake and temporary housing. While she still enjoys working with large animals, Josie knew that her true passion has always been in companion animal care. She started her journey with VCA in October of 2025 and has loved every minute of her time here. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, playing with her dog, Hazelnut, and her cat, Kruger, and playing board games with friends and family.
