Alane Kosanovich Cahalane
Medical Director, Veterinary Specialist - Surgery DVM, MA, DACVS

Dr. Alane serves as medical director and surgeon at VCA CAVES. She earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University, graduate degree from Boston University and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Alane completed both her rotating internship and surgical residency at Cornell University and has been a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons since 2008.

In 2011, Dr. Alane became the first specialist in small animal surgery to live and work in Hong Kong. With an unwavering vision to provide the highest level of veterinary medical treatment and compassionate care to animals in Asia, Dr. Alane co-founded VSH Hong Kong, the first and only dedicated specialty and referral veterinary hospital in the region, and also oversaw Hong Kong's first ACVS residency program in small animal surgery. Dr. Alane is dedicated to elevating and empowering veterinary professionals to thrive through education, support, and sharing of expertise. In 2018, Dr. Alane was invited to speak at TEDx Wan Chai on the power of trust in veterinary relationships and has since been selected for several keynote lectures within the veterinary profession.

With interest and experience in both soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, Dr. Alane values in-depth communication with pet families and believes in the power of connection and positivity in achieving the best possible surgical outcomes.
