Dr. Natalie Koons is a board-certified small animal surgeon with extensive experience in both elective and emergency procedures. She earned her veterinary degree from Cornell University, followed by a surgical and emergency specialty internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists. Dr. Koons completed her residency in small animal surgery at Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital, where she performed more than 1,200 procedures under the guidance of five board-certified surgeons. She achieved Diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2023.
Her clinical interests include fracture repair, wound management, and emergency surgical care. In addition to her caseload, Dr. Koons has been a leader in surgical education, mentoring residents and interns in soft tissue and orthopedic techniques.
Before pursuing veterinary medicine, Dr. Koons was a professional ballet dancer, performing with companies across the United States and Canada. She remains committed to bringing the same discipline, focus, and creativity she developed in the arts to her work in veterinary surgery.
Outside of work, Dr. Koons loves spending time with her yellow Labradors, enjoys relaxing at the coast, and is an avid gardener with a particular passion for dahlias.
