Dr. Seth Oster, born and raised in Pennsylvania, first moved to Alabama in 2005 to begin the pursuit of his dream of becoming a veterinarian. As an undergraduate student, he got his first experience with birds while volunteering at the Southeastern Raptor Center. From there, he expanded his pursuit to include all exotic pets. He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Zoology in 2009 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2012.
After graduating, Dr. Oster never stopped seeking knowledge and opportunities to better care for his patients. After a brief period of working in private practice in Baltimore, he moved back to Alabama in 2015 to teach at Auburn University. There, he opened an exotic service in the teaching hospital and once again provided care for the patients of the Southeastern Raptor Center. Dr. Oster received his board certification in Avian Practice from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in 2025.
In his personal life, Dr. Oster enjoys spending time with his wife, Lauris, and their ever-growing and changing collection of pets. Outside of the home, he enjoys traveling, playing Warhammer, and powerlifting.
