Primary Care

Anesthesia

As an AAHA-accredited hospital, we are pleased to provide a very high standard of care for our anesthetized patients.  Each anesthetic protocol is catered to the specific pet undergoing surgery (disposition, pain level, breed), the type of surgery being performed, and with AAHA/AAFP Pain Management Guidelines in mind.  Local/nerve blocks are used liberally.

A personal nurse is assigned to your pet throughout the procedure.  Your pet’s heart rate, blood pressure, oxygenation, level of anesthetic depth, temperature, etc. is constantly being monitored and values are recorded frequently to monitor for trends.

Monitoring anesthesia does not stop once the procedure is over.  Your pet is provided heat support and watched very closely until they are determined to have recovered fully.
