Just this past year, over 17,000 low-income individuals were served by Volunteers of America, with 14,000 of them being homeless. VOA at the Record Street homeless shelter is where VCA Lakeside Animal Hospital offers its annual free wellness clinics for pets of the homeless. These clinics are held once a month in June, July and August at the homeless shelter in downtown Reno.

Washoe County Regional Animal Service

Regional Animal Services works to reduce pet overpopulation, prevent animal neglect and improve the quality of life for pets through the Washoe County C.A.R.ES (Community Animal Resource & Educational Services) program.  With the generosity of donations from community members and beyond, our staff, volunteers and community partners can enhance the lives of animals in our community through a variety of safety net programs.

Noah's Animal House

Noah's Animal House is a domestic violence animal sanctuary located in both Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada.  Our mission is to remove the barrier that often times keeps victims in a dangerous living situation. We provide housing, food, supplies and veterinary care to our clients and realize that we are "better together." The Domestic Violence Resource Center is our partner agency that provides safe shelter and services for the human victims while their pets stay with us at Noah's Animal House. 

Nevada Humane Society

Nevada Humane Society is a charitable, non-profit organization that accepts all pets and makes every effort to save each and every one. We have been bringing people and pets together for nearly 90 years. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our employees, veterinarians, volunteers, supporters, donors, community partners and board of directors, we have been named one of the safest communities in the nation for homeless pets. To date, we have saved over 100,000 animals and are dedicated to continuing and growing our lifesaving efforts not just in Northern Nevada, but within our entire state.

Pawsibilities

Pawsibilities is a 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue established in 2018. We primarily take in dogs, cats, small critters, birds, and some reptiles. Pawsibilities is a foster-based rescue dedicated to making a difference for animals in need. We are passionately committed to helping all animals that come through our door. At Pawsibilities we focus on making the maximum positive change for animals in need including strays, shelter animals, owner surrender, abused and neglected animals, and abandoned pets. Our team, volunteers, and foster families provide the love, energy, and compassion that help us do lifesaving work.
