Caring for pets means meeting a wide range of needs beyond health care. Fortunately, there’s a whole community of organizations and businesses eager to help.
Here’s where to meet the local groups that we recommend to our pet-loving families.
The Placer Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA) is dedicated to ensuring the humane treatment of all animals in Placer County. We provide a safe and nurturing environment for unwanted, abandoned and mistreated pets until they can be placed into loving homes. Through proactive intervention, public education and community outreach, the Placer SPCA seeks to promote respect for all life by breaking the cycle of abuse, neglect and pet overpopulation in our communities.
The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center is staffed 24 hours with veterinary health professionals who have been specially trained in veterinary toxicology. If you think that your pet may have ingested a potentially poisonous substance, call the ASPCA 24 hour emergency Animal Poison Control Center hotline at (888) 426-4435. A $65 consultation fee is applied to your credit card.
The Trupanion policy was created to help your four-legged family members get the best veterinary care when they're sick or injured. Simply put, Trupanion offers one simple plan that covers 90% of all eligible unexpected illnesses or injuries throughout your pet's life. Rest assured knowing your pet can receive the best veterinary care, without worrying about the cost.
