Dr. Schermerhorn joins the VCA North Portland team after working as a relief veterinarian in Colorado since 2021. He previously worked around the Greater Los Angeles area in General Practice, Urgent Care, and End-of-life/Home Euthanasia after graduating from The Ohio State University. His professional interests include dentistry, soft tissue surgery (especially minimally invasive procedures), behavior, and dermatology. He also has a fondness for fractious patients and is proactive in managing their stress before, during, and after appointments.
In his free time, Dr. Schermerhorn enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with his wife and new baby daughter (especially on outings to the Portland Zoo!), along with their two dogs and one cat. He is thrilled to be a member of such a talented team and looks forward to working with everyone!
