Dr. Kelly O'Connell is a highly skilled veterinary neurologist dedicated to enhancing animal health through specialized care and advanced medical knowledge. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colorado-Denver before pursuing her veterinary degree at the prestigious University of Glasgow in Scotland, graduating in 2016.
Dr. O'Connell's professional journey began with a rotating internship at Aspen Meadow Veterinary Specialists in Denver, CO, in 2017, where she gained invaluable experience across various veterinary disciplines. She completed her neurology residency at the University of California, Davis, where she developed extensive expertise in the field. Additionally, she broadened her diagnostic and clinical capabilities through specialized training in Anatomic Pathology at UC Davis.
Her clinical interests include neurosurgery and the management of seizures, and she is actively involved in research on neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. O'Connell is committed to staying at the forefront of veterinary neurology to provide innovative treatments and exceptional care for her patients.
Outside the hospital, Dr. O'Connell is an accomplished athlete, having completed over 40 marathons and ultramarathons, and she channels her love of animals into her personal life as well. She is an avid dressage rider and cares for a menagerie of animals, including her Chihuahua, Sookie, who lives with cerebellar hypoplasia, two additional Chihuahuas named Hummus and Pita, and several ex-racehorse thoroughbreds she has rehabilitated.
