Liz Sanchez, DVM, is a veterinarian at VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a specialization in Animal Behavior from the University of California, Davis in 2019 before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from St. George's University in Grenada, West Indies. She completed her clinical training at Cornell University and graduated in 2026.
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Sanchez discovered her passion for veterinary medicine through hands-on experience caring for animals. After volunteering at wildlife rehabilitation centers, zoos, and animal shelters in California, she realized she wanted to dedicate her career to improving the lives of animals and the people who care for them. Before veterinary school, she worked as a veterinary assistant in both rehabilitation and general practice, experiences that helped shape her clinical foundation. While studying in Grenada, Dr. Sanchez developed a special interest in dermatology after caring for patients with a wide variety of skin conditions. She hopes to pursue a residency in small animal dermatology and become board-certified in the specialty.
Outside of work, Dr. Sanchez enjoys ceramics, arts and crafts, interior decorating, video games, and spending time outdoors with her husband, friends, and pets. She shares her home with five rescued companions, including Tali, her adventurous calico cat who has traveled internationally by her side; Fenn and Cinnamon, two orange tabbies rescued from Grenada; Lola, a Pit Bull who loves soaking up the sun; and Plum, a Chihuahua whose resilience has made him an especially cherished member of the family.
