Originally from Southern California, Melissa Wood relocated to Oregon, for school, and fell in love with the area. Dr. Wood graduated from Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She began working, as a relief doctor, for VCA Salem Animal Hospital in 2011 and accepted a permanent position with our team in 2014. 

Dr. Wood is especially interested in internal medicine cases, preventive medicine, and the care of geriatric pets. 

When she is away from work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Mike, and two children. She also enjoys historic buildings and has spent the last eight years restoring her century old home. She loves reading, gardening, and yoga.
