True or False: Milk and tuna are great foods for cats
Answer: False
Cats of all ages should not be fed milk or tuna. Once kittens are about 12 weeks old, they lose the ability to digest milk sugar, meaning milk can upset their stomachs, causing vomiting and diarrhea. If you want to give your kittens milk, they should be given kitten-specific milk formulas instead.
While cats may love tuna, they shouldn’t eat it—not even as a treat! Tuna lacks essential nutrients and has too much unsaturated fat. It isn’t supplemented with vitamin E or other antioxidants and just a few ounces contain more than a third of the recommended daily caloric intake for many cats. Instead, feed your favorite feline balanced kitten or cat food, including Royal Canin.
