Become a stay-at-home champ with fun, pet-friendly activities

dog yoga

Guess who loves having you stay at home? Your pet! No more long hours of waiting at the door and the snuggles just keep coming.

Though you no doubt love all the cuddle time too, you may find yourself starting to feel bored being stuck at home with the same routine. After you’ve binged all your favorite shows and finished that super hard puzzle you’ve been working on forever, you may find yourself wondering how else to fill your time.

Here are some staycation ideas to shake up your routine and increase both your and your pet’s well-being:

  • Discover new routes to walk your dog in your neighborhood. Challenge yourself not to repeat the same route for over a week so that your dog can get maximum exploration out of each walk.
  • Try pet yoga! This fun and quirky exercise can be done with either dogs or cats and is a great way to stay limber and bond.
  • Teach your pet a new trick. Yes, that means cats, too! Your pet will love the attention and treats this will bring.
  • Do you like crafts? Depending on your craft of choice, you can knit your pet a sweater, quilt a comfy bed or sew a fabric collar. Even if you’re not the best at crafts, you can repurpose old T-shirts to make your dog a new toy or turn cardboard boxes into intricate kitty jungle gyms. Find plenty more craft inspirations online!
  • More handy than crafty? Put your skills to good use. Try your hand at building a kitty condo or an elevated dog feeding station. Your pet will thank you for the new luxury.
  • Do you like massage? Your pet probably does too! Find an online tutorial to start giving your pet massage sessions. You may be surprised how relaxing and meditative these sessions can be for you as well.

If your pet has specific health issues that may limit certain physical activities, check with your veterinarian on how best to modify activities to make them safe for your pet to enjoy.
