Dr. Lerma discovered her passion for veterinary medicine through an experience that changed her life. When she took in a fearful dog named Blacky who was at risk of being abandoned, she committed herself to giving him a chance others wouldn't. Through patience, consistency, and compassion, Blacky slowly learned to trust people becoming her first pet and the inspiration behind her decision to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
With a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University, Dr. Lerma went on to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2026. Her medical interests include surgery, dentistry, and preventive medicine, with a strong emphasis on helping improve the human–animal bond through education and compassionate care.
She is deeply committed to bridging the gap between veterinary medicine and the community, working to improve access, communication, and trust so that every pet owner feels informed, respected, and supported in their pet's care.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Lerma enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Blacky and Muñeca, traveling, especially to nature-filled destinations, being actively involved in her church community, and spending quality time with friends and family.
