Dr. Emma Cannon is a veterinary graduate of the University of Glasgow and holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. A lifelong California resident before attending veterinary school in Scotland, Dr. Cannon has always been passionate about helping animals and the people who love them.
Her journey in animal care began at a young age through volunteering with animal organizations and veterinary clinics across the country. Her experiences have included walking dogs awaiting adoption, caring for sick patients in small animal hospitals, and spending a summer in Costa Rica assisting with research involving endangered sea turtles. These experiences gave her a firsthand understanding of the special bond between people and their pets, as well as the difficult decisions families can face when financial challenges affect their ability to access veterinary care.
While attending the University of Glasgow, Dr. Cannon became involved with Students for Animals in Need, a committee dedicated to helping provide funding for life-saving procedures for pets whose families could not otherwise afford them. This experience further strengthened her belief that every pet deserves an advocate and that compassionate veterinary care can make a meaningful difference in the lives of both animals and their families.
Through her volunteer and clinical experiences, Dr. Cannon has developed strong interpersonal and communication skills and learned the importance of approaching challenging situations with empathy, patience, and compassion.
For Dr. Cannon, veterinary medicine is more than a career—it is an opportunity to be there for animals and their families when they need help most. She is dedicated to providing compassionate care, advocating for her patients, and helping strengthen the lifelong bond between pets and the people who love them.
