Associate Veterinarian
DVM
Dr. Tomomi Lager was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. She was originally pursuing an epidemiological career in academia before embarking on her career as a veterinarian after the loss of her beloved Golden Retriever, Lia. She attended and graduated with honors from Azabu University and successfully converted her license through AVMA. Dr. Lager had an enormous impact on the lives of shelter and owned pets in New Mexico for nearly 10 years before joining the VCA Blue Cross family in August of 2022. She believes that the bond between people and furry friends is magical. Her life goal is to make that bond stronger by helping the precious lives of our friends. She carries a special interest in surgery and preventive care using fear free gentle handling techniques.
During Dr. Lager’s free time, she enjoys hiking, over-landing in the wilderness, practicing martial arts, and spending time with her husband and their two dogs, Lila and Achilles.
