Dr. Darla Carter has been a part of the San Antonio community her entire life. "I love being in this city…" she says, "where family and friends are all close by." Dr. Carter grew up in a 'medical' family, where many of her relatives worked in the medical field. Her own father, Dr. John E. Carter practiced as a plastic and restorative surgeon here in San Antonio for many years.

With these roots, and a lifelong passion for caring for animals, Dr. Carter attended Texas A&M University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with undergraduate degrees in veterinary science and veterinary medicine. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. Following her graduation, Dr. Carter returned to her hometown, and began practicing in the San Antonio area. At home, she has a sweet little dog named 'Sweetie' who is spoiled rotten!
