Josh began his veterinary career in Southern California and earned his registered veterinary technician (RVT) license in August 2007 through the Professional Veterinary Assistant School. He joined VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center (SVRC) later that year as a surgery RVT and quickly advanced into leadership roles, including surgery supervisor and surgery and specialty department supervisor.
After a brief relocation to South Carolina in 2014, Josh returned to Sacramento in 2015 as an overnight supervisor. He continued his leadership journey through roles at VCA Loomis as a surgery supervisor and at VCA Mueller Pet Medical Center as a technician manager. Josh was promoted to assistant hospital manager in 2022, interim hospital manager in 2025, and hospital manager in 2026.
Josh brings extensive specialty surgical experience, a strong commitment to advancing patient care, and a collaborative leadership style that emphasizes team morale, often enhanced by his humor and well-known alter egos like Willy Onkka and Jolly Josh.
Outside of work, Josh enjoys metal forging, creating lamps from antique objects, cooking, golfing, home improvement projects, and spending time with his black kitten, Lucipurr.
