Kick off your summer with these excellent cat activities

summer cat activities

Let’s make this summer fun and unforgettable for both us and our cats! Start making memories with these warm weather activities to enjoy with your best bud.

  • Fish for ice. Put some frozen cubes of tuna juice or canned cat food in a bowl of water to create the yummiest water game your cat ever played.
  • Plant a cat-friendly garden. Green up your space with edible herbs your cat can enjoy too. Use the ASPCA plant list to choose cat-safe plants.
  • Chase bubbles. Your little hunter will love to chase the shiny orbs and marvel as they disappear.
  • Take your cat on a walk. If you’ve ever considered leash walking your cat, summer is the time to try!
  • Teach your cat to wash their paws. Using clicker training to get your cat to bat at running water is a great way to keep your cat active and cool in the summer—plus it’s beyond cute and meme-worthy!
  • Become an amateur bird enthusiast. Hang up a bird feeder near your cat’s favorite window and build a comfy nest of pillows and blankets there for the two of you to enjoy all the feathered friends that will come to visit.
  • Create a kitty water world. Fill the bathtub with an inch or two of water; place a few dry platforms in it along with plenty of swimming toys and some treats on floating bottle caps; then watch your little water tiger leap into action.
