Katie's journey into veterinary medicine began while working with breeders of beagles, Samoyeds, Komondors, Ibizan hounds, and greyhounds. During that time, she was pursuing a B.S. in kinesiology but soon discovered that her true passion was caring for animals. That realization inspired her to change paths and attend the Vet Tech Institute of Houston, where she graduated in June 2020.
Since then, Katie has worked in general practice, with additional experience in the ICU, emergency care, and avian/exotic care. She spent time at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, where she honed her skills in intensive and intermediate care.
Katie's favorite part of being a veterinary technician is helping as many animals as she can while educating pet owners on how to best care for their companions. Her strongest skills include client communication and exam room care, where she excels at creating a calm and supportive environment for both pets and their families.
At home, Katie shares her life with two dogs—a loving chihuahua who adores lap time and kisses, and a playful dachshund who loves to zoom around the yard. When she's not at the hospital, Katie enjoys knitting, taking walks, and spending quality time with her dogs.
A fun fact about Katie: both sides of her family work in medicine, but she's the first to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. If she could be any animal, she'd be a cat—independent, content, and perfectly herself.
