Dr. Emily Nelson hails from Michigan and grew up in the picturesque small town of Petoskey. Surrounded by cats, dogs, horses, and even donkeys, she developed a love for animals. She completed a Bachelor of Science at Alma College in 2008 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. After veterinary school, she has had the opportunity to practice small animal medicine in Texas, Michigan, and now Illinois. She joined the VCA West Suburban Veterinary Hospital in June of 2024.
Working in several states and communities, Dr. Nelson has gotten to see and treat a wide variety of patients. She enjoys surgery and managing medicine cases. Working with clients to not only treat their pet but build relationships.
When not working at VCA, Dr. Nelson is wrangling her own animals which include three cats and two young boys. She enjoys spending time with her husband and sons as well as exercising and getting outdoors.
