Dr. Sebastian Mejia is a board-certified veterinary surgery specialist at VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center (VCA AVCC) in Lawndale, providing advanced surgical care to pets throughout the South Bay and greater Los Angeles area.

Dr. Mejia earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from La Salle University. After relocating to Southern California, he completed certification through the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG), demonstrating his commitment to meeting the highest standards of veterinary medicine in the United States.

Dr. Mejia advanced his clinical training with a rotating internship at Veterinary Medical and Surgical Group, followed by a surgical internship at VCA ARECA. He further expanded his expertise at Colorado State University, where he completed specialized internships in veterinary orthopedic clinical trials and surgical oncology research, authoring and publishing multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts in veterinary surgery.

After completing a rigorous surgical residency at the University of Missouri, Dr. Mejia achieved board certification, solidifying his credentials as a veterinary surgical specialist.

Dr. Mejia’s professional interests include advanced orthopedic surgery, minimally invasive and neurosurgical procedures, surgical oncology, reconstructive surgery, and innovative applications of 3D printing for pre-surgical planning and patient-specific instrumentation. His approach combines evidence-based medicine, innovative technology, and compassionate patient care to deliver optimal surgical outcomes.

Outside the operating room, Dr. Mejia enjoys an active lifestyle and shares his home with his cat, Dr. Gonzo, and his two dogs, Kaya and Baba Voss.
