Dr. Peneguy is a New Orleans native. She was born in 1969 and knew she wanted to be a veterinarian four years later when she watched Dr. Pelle deliver a litter of Dachshund puppies. She went to St. Pius X Grammar School and Mount Carmel High School. She was the first student to graduate from LSU with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Systems on the Vet school's three-plus-one program. Before going to Vet school she went to Orlando, Florida and worked at Walt Disney World for one summer. She graduated from LSU Veterinary School in 1995.
She lives in Metairie with her husband David, their daughter Piper born in 2005, two Dachshunds and one cat. The family spends time with their friends enjoying church related functions and spending time outdoors especially in the Smokey Mountains. They also share a hobby of traveling around the country to ride passenger trains. Dr. Peneguy also decorates her home and garden as a hobby.
