Dr. Aishwarya Chitnis joined VCA North Portland in July 2023 after graduating from Purdue University. She has spent her childhood in India and the Philippines. Her passion for veterinary medicine motivated her to gain veterinary and educational experiences in India, United States and Costa Rica.
Dr. Chitnis enjoys working with animals and has a keen interest in ophthalmology and soft tissue surgery. She enjoys working with animals and has been fortunate to see how animal health care is practiced in different countries and hopes to provide affordable healthcare and improve its accessibility.
During her time at Purdue, she received a degree in veterinary business management and represented the school in business conferences across the US. She completed clerkships in small animal internal medicine and clinical pathology during her clinical year of veterinary school. She has extensive research experience and co-authored multiple publications in topics ranging from food safety to animal behavior.
Dr. Chitnis enjoys working through a good challenge and trying new things. She won Purdue's engineering innovation competition in 2021 for creating eco-friendly face masks and went on to receive a provisional patent for it.
Dr. Chitnis enjoys cooking, painting and going to comedy shows. She moved to Oregon with her partner after graduation to pursue her career as a veterinarian and is excited to serve the Pacific Northwest community!
