Dr. Aylin Smith graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical year at Purdue Veterinary Teaching Hospital in 2019. She joined Mars Inc. in April 2021 and transferred to VCA in January 2025, where she was welcomed to Todds Lane Animal Hospital.
She has two cats, Sushi (an orange-and-white tabby) and Smeagol (a sphynx), but also has a soft spot for pocket pets and reptiles.
As a military brat, Dr. Smith grew up overseas between Turkey (her mother’s home country) and Germany before ultimately settling in Virginia in 2004. Her father retired from the Air Force, and the family planted roots in the area. She has one older sister and one nephew.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Smith grew up watching Steve Irwin, “The Crocodile Hunter,” and has always loved dinosaurs, The Lord of the Rings, and PC video games.
