Dr. Bianca Lara grew up in Southern California. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from University of California, Davis before heading to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine for her combined veterinary and master's degree. She completed her clinical year at Colorado State University.
Following veterinary school, Dr. Lara completed a rotating internship at VCA Alameda East in Denver, Colorado. She followed that with an internal medicine specialty internship at VCA ASEC in Los Angeles. She then completed her residency in small animal internal medicine and earned a second master's degree at Purdue University.
Dr. Lara has a particular interest in gastroenterology, with a special focus on the canine microbiome and diet. She also enjoys managing patients with liver disease, immune-mediated diseases, and endocrine disorders. She loves the detective work that comes with internal medicine and helping piece together the clues to get to the bottom of a complicated case.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Lara enjoys reading, hiking, and attending music festivals. She has two pets: Gaby, who is a coconut retriever from the Caribbean, and Boo Benito Antonio, who is an energetic cat from the Pacific Northwest.
Dr. Lara is passionate about providing thoughtful, compassionate care for her patients and their families—and is always happy to have a four-legged companion along for the journey.
