Dr. Lisa Hernandez acquired her Bachelor of Science degree in General Biology at the University of California, Irvine. After that she worked a short time in immunology research for human organ transplantation before finding a passion for animal care at Los Angeles Pierce College, Woodland Hills. She then worked as a Registered Veterinary Technician while earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at University of California, Davis. Dr. Hernandez went on to complete a small animal rotating internship at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital.
Dr. Hernandez is part of our Overnight Emergency and Critical Care team, and has special interests in drug toxicities, trauma, and endocrine emergencies.
Dr. Hernandez was born and raised in Los Angeles. She loves reading in her hammock while cuddling with her two dogs and traveling with her husband. She is a proud mother of Barry and Wally—two rabbits as well as Aurum, the Chihuahua, and Kalium, the blind lab mix.
