John Chretin
Medical Director DVM, DACVIM (Oncology)

Dr. John D. Chretin obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1994 from Colorado State University. He completed a small animal internship at North Carolina State University and then went on to receive board certification in the specialty of medical oncology after a three-year residency at Tufts University.

Dr. Chretin was born in Arizona and moved to Los Angeles in 2002. It is here where he met his wife and has become father to four children, with an additional child on the way. He served as Head of Oncology at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital where in 2010 he established a bone marrow transplant program for dogs. Most recently, Dr. Chretin was Head of Oncology at TrueCare for Pets in Studio City, California. He is an active participant in clinical studies and co-authored numerous publications. 

Dr. Chretin emphasizes a supportive work environment along with client education and has the first-hand experience of treating two of his own dogs for cancer. His core guiding principles are educating families whose pets have cancer, providing progressive and compassionate veterinary care, and improving the quality of life for all animals.
