Dr. Leslie Rutherford was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona She received her B.A. in Religion at Davidson College in North Carolina. After college, she worked in the fashion industry in Los Angeles while volunteering at a local animal shelter. Finding more fulfillment in her volunteer work than in her day job led her to the pursuit of a degree in veterinary medicine. She received her DVM from the University of Illinois, followed with a year-long internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Denver. She joined the team at VCA Westmoreland in August 2013. Dr. Rutherford is most interested in general practice and preventative healthcare but also enjoys internal medicine, dentistry, and wound management. When she is not at work, Dr. Rutherford enjoys spending time with her husband and their 3 dogs. They also share their home with 2 cats, 3 chickens, and a lot of fur. In her spare time, she likes to garden, hike, and knit sweaters for her Chihuahua.
