Betty Wood received her degree as a Veterinary Technician from Parkland College in 1982. Since that time she has worked in general practice medicine, shelter medicine, and several veterinary specialties that include Surgery, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Emergency and Critical Care, and Integrative Medicine. It was in Integrative Medicine that Betty discovered a passion for Rehabilitation. Betty received certification as a Veterinary Rehabilitation and Massage Therapist from the Healing Oasis Wellness Center in 2012. While helping patients recover from orthopedic or spinal surgery is fulfilling, Betty says her favorite patients to help are the older dogs that struggle with arthritis, and weight management. Seeing these pets get a new lease of life is the reason she got into rehabilitation.
In addition to rehabilitation, Betty is also the referral coordinator at VCA Arboretum View. In this role she works as a liaison for the Specialty services and referring partners, making sure they are up-to-date on new services we offer, and arranges for continuing education events. She also handles our social media and marketing, as well as arranging our participation in local events.
Betty lives in the suburbs, near her two sons and her grandchildren. She shares her home with a border collie named Asher. She enjoys spending time with her family, cycling, kayaking, and hiking nearby trails with Asher. Several times a year, Betty and Asher hit the road to explore a National Park.
